Accessible Films

Open Captioning refers to captions that are displayed on-screen and are visible to all. In addition for those patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing, open captions are also beneficial for those that are looking to understand all of the actions and dialogue within a film, or to help improve their reading and overall English language skills. 

Sensory Friendly Screenings are available for all, and created with those with sensory issues in mind. They include Open Captioning during the film, dimmed theatre lights instead of dark, a lower sound level, no advertisements or trailers, a quiet roon, and audience members can feel free to roam the theatre.

Select screenings in partnership with Centre for Diverse Learners also include on-site support staff. Please check the individual film page to confirm if this service is provided.

Closed Captioning refers to captions that are required for those patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing, which are generated and displayed by the individual caption receivers that rest on the arm of our theatre chairs or in a cup holder. These captions are not displayed on-screen.

Described Audio refers to the sounds that are required for those patrons who are visually impaired, which are generated by a pair of volume-adjustable headphones that describe on-screen actions and situations that are not indicated through the dialogue.
