Hamilton, ON – The Westdale, a not-for-profit multi-arts venue and historic theatre in the heart of Hamilton, is thrilled to announce a generous donation from Hamilton Third Age Learning (HTAL) in support of the theatre’s 90th Anniversary Capital Fundraising Campaign.
The donation will help fund the repayment of debt incurred during The Westdale’s restoration in 2018, as it celebrates nine decades of serving the community through film, music, performance, and education.
“We are incredibly grateful to Hamilton Third Age Learning for their generous contribution,” said Alysha Main, Executive Director of The Westdale. “This gift helps us honour the legacy of our historic venue while investing in its future as a vibrant hub for arts and culture in Hamilton.”
Hamilton Third Age Learning, an organization dedicated to lifelong learning for older adults, has been a long-time partner of The Westdale, hosting regular educational lectures and events at the theatre. Their donation highlights the shared commitment to enriching the lives of community members through accessible cultural and educational experiences.
“The Westdale is not just a building — it’s a cornerstone of Hamilton’s cultural landscape,” said Cairine Wilson, Vice Chair of Hamilton Third Age Learning Board. “Our board is proud to support this campaign because The Westdale is a place where generations come together to learn, connect, and be inspired.”
The Westdale’s 90th Anniversary Capital Campaign aims to raise $1,000,000 in 2025, to go towards eliminating the restoration debt, ensuring the sustainability of the theatre for the next nine decades. And because donations will be matched by a long-time supporter, this contribution from Hamilton Third Age Learning has double the impact.
