Experience the magic!
Formed by Mexican multi-percussionist and singer Sergio Barrenechea, Impulso Flamenco is prominent on Montreal’s world jazz scene.
The group presents a repertoire of traditional Flamenco infusion with Latin and Arab music embedded with Jazz accents, and thanks to the virtuosity of its performers, the show is both energetic and colorful.
Impulso Flamenco has participated in numerous festivals in Canada and internationally: Flamenco Festival of Montreal, Festival of the Arab World, Gnawa Festival and Theater Royal Mohamed V in Morocco, in addition, they have toured Mexico, Spain, are currently on a cross Canada tour with a special stop in Hamilton.
Nicolas Wallace is a master of magic and subtly!
His mesmerizing brand of magic will have you scratching your head for days to come. Nick Wallace can best be described as a minimalist – who has forgone fancy props and special effects and prefers to conjure with an audience’s imagination by presenting magic and mind reading in a way that is both entertaining and thought provoking.
Get your tickets while they last! Nicolas’ shows always sell out!
DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING & TALK,
on Great Writers, Great Machines with Martin Howard, Gary Barwin, Tom Wilson
The film: CALIFORNIA TYPEWRITER is a documentary portrait of artists, writers, and collectors who remain steadfastly loyal to the typewriter as a tool and muse, featuring Tom Hanks, John Mayer, David McCullough, Sam Shepard, and others.
It also movingly documents the struggles of California Typewriter, one of the last standing repair shops in America dedicated to keeping the aging machines clicking.
In the process, the film delivers a thought-provoking meditation on the changing dynamic between humans and machines, and encourages us to consider our own relationship with technology, old and new, as the digital age’s emphasis on speed and convenience redefines who’s serving whom, human or machine?
Gary Barwin will perform a musical composition created on an old typewriter.
